Faye Dumont has the pleasure of regularly conducting the Melbourne Chamber Choir and the Melbourne Women’s Choir. She also conducts the occasional Melbourne Mastersingers and the professional ensemble Chorelation. She has been a conductor/lecturer at Melbourne University, RMIT University, Latrobe University and the Australian Catholic University.

Faye was the founding president of the Australian Choral Association and, since the amalgamation of the choral organisations into the Australian National Choral Association (ANCA), has served one term as its national president. She is convenor of the Australian Choral Conductors Education and Training summer and winter schools in Melbourne. She founded the Voices of Women and Sing Christmas choral events in Melbourne, and has been artistic director of the Melbourne International Choral Festival.

Faye’s work as guest conductor, workshop leader and voice specialist is well known throughout Australia and New Zealand and she is a contributor to choral and educational publications. She has written the popular choral handbook You Can Do It — Starting a Choir and has followed it with You Can Do It — Conducting a Choir.

Faye’s enthusiasm for the choral arts was greatly stimulated by her studies at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, where she worked with Rodney Eichenberger.

Faye made a wonderful contribution to our inugural 2010 event, demonstrating huge depth of knowledge and delightfull skills in dealing with the participating choirs she workshopped and the 300 voice massed choir we formed at the festival.
