The age of choristers

I’ve had two requests from junior college choral directors, this one from Hawaii, the other from Minnesota.

Are you looking for high school choirs, or are junior colleges also welcome?

Our high schools students are aged 13-18 with a few younger and older individuals. That was the original target age group in our mind.

Junior College students may not enjoy homestaying with our students a few years their junior so they couldn’t be included on a homestaying basis.  If a Junior College choir wanted to come, starting a few days later without the in-school time, they could have a very successful tour, especially if they coordinated with an/other Junior College choir/s to come.  

We will be happy to work towards including any such choir that wants to come.

Choir minimum size

This mail came in from Chicago asking about the minimum size of choir we can host.

Splendid idea! Is there more information you could send me at this time? I led a choir from Arizona on a trip to Wellington/Lower Hutt about twenty years ago. It was the most enjoyable tour I have experienced. I would be interested in bringing a small group — would that be acceptable? I am still in occasional contact with name deleted (Wellington composer/conductor/cellist). I look forward to hearing from you.

We had a discussion about it and decided we should have a lower limit of 12, less than that would be probably too different from any of the host choirs which mostly number 25-45.
